Peer Support
Peer Support is an umbrella term for two complementary schemes: Peer Mentoring and Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS). Both schemes have been running since 1995 and, whilst distinct, can often overlap.
All schemes are 'discipline owned, student led'; by taking responsibility for its own scheme (whilst accessing central (Students as Partners) and Faculty staff for support, guidance, training, evaluation and dissemination) a discipline can ensure the scheme meets the needs of the students, with those needs being most effectively identified by the students who are involved.
Aims and Objectives
- To enhance the quality, quantity and diversity of Student Learning within a discipline
- To involve students as partners in their learning experience
- To provide further opportunity for the development of intellectual and professional competencies
- To provide students with a supportive environment to assist the transition to Higher Education
